For the first time since it opened in 2001, the iconic Dolby Theatre (formerly known as the Kodak Theatre) in Hollywood, will play host to a Christian women’s event.
On June 19-20, the site of the annual Academy Awards celebration will roll out the red carpet for GodChicks 2015. In addition to the Oscars, notable television and awards events at Dolby Theatre have included the American Idol finals, Daytime Emmy Awards, ESPY Awards and BET Awards.
“From the same stage on which the greatest artists of our time have performed and been honored, thousands of women will worship and honor God,” says GodChicks founder and co-host Holly Wagner. “We want you to be a part of this historic gathering.”
Wagner—a wife, mom, teacher, author and cancer survivor–and her husband, Philip, co-pastor the Oasis Church—a growing, multi-cultural, multi-generational church located in Los Angeles.
She has written several books, including: GodChicks, which examines the many facets of being a woman of God; Daily Steps for GodChicks, a 90-day devotional which was written during her treatment for breast cancer; WarriorChicks, which uses Holly’s own life experiences to deliver witty, yet poignant principles for facing any life crisis, and GodChicks and The Men They Love, which she wrote with her husband Philip and which offers practical help for dating and building a marriage.
The focus of the annual two-day GodChicks conference is to draw women together and equip them to transform their communities and change the world. “It is an experience that allows women to catch their breath, refresh their soul and leave empowered with the knowledge that, with God, they can do anything,” says Wagner.
At the 2015 conference, women will be equipped to Be Brave and Do Good in their communities. The keynote guest will be Joyce Meyer, an influential Bible teacher, New York Times bestselling author, and host of the TV and radio show, Enjoying Everyday Life®.
Other special guests include Sarah Jakes, an author, blogger, mom, leader of the women’s ministry at The Potter’s House in Dallas, and daughter of Bishop T.D. Jakes, and Rich & DawnCheré Wilkerson, leaders of The Rendezvous, a young adults ministry of Trinity Church in Miami, Florida.
